BOV card payment

Bank of Valletta (BOV) has warned that during the night of Tuesday 8th February, from 1am to 7am (Wednesday morning), most of its services could be taken offline.

During this period, BOV Internet and Mobile Banking, ATMs, Cards, BOV Pay, EPOS machines, and the bank’s websites may be unavailable.

Revealing the scheduled maintenance on Monday, the bank thanked customers for their understanding, and apologies for the interruption of its services, and any subsequent inconvenience.

The move comes days after BOV’s main competitor, HSBC Malta, drew the ire of its customers by bringing cards, online transactions, withdrawals, POS sales, and internet banking offline for an extended period.

HSBC Malta’s expected downtime, however, was significantly longer than BOV’s with ATM transactions unavailable from 10:30pm last Saturday till 8pm on Monday (today).

Similarly, online transactions were expected to be affected from 2am on Sunday to 8pm on Monday, while point of sale transactions were scheduled to be heavily limited for the same period.

This downtime came as the bank overhauled its card system.
