Gozo Fast Ferry Ltd releases ticket fares for Gozo residents, Tallinja card holders

Both operators of a fast ferry service between Malta and Gozo have released details of their respective ticket fares and schedules.

The service by both companies, Gozo Fast Ferry Ltd and Virtu Ferries Gozo, is to commence on 1st June, and both are expected to take 45 minutes.

Virtu Ferries Gozo, announcing its fares last week, gave a full breakdown inclusive of the return journey as follows:

Standard fare for adults, youths & seniors: €12
Standard fare for children: €6
Tallinja Card for adults, youths & seniors: €11
Tallinja Card for children: €5.50
Gozo residents who are adults, youths & seniors: €5
Gozo residents who are children: €3
Gozo residents + Tallinja card for adults, youths & seniors: €4.60
Gozo residents + Tallinja card for children: €2.70

As for Gozo Fast Ferry, on Tuesday it shared details of ticket fares for Gozo residents and for passengers in possession of a Tallinja card. It is being reported that an announcement for its standard ticket fare will be made in the coming days.

A breakdown of Virtu Ferries Gozo ticket fares so far, including returns:

Gozo residents: €4.50 (€0.50c cheaper than Virtu Ferries Gozo for residents of Gozo who are adults, youths & seniors)
Tallinja card for adults or students: €7.99 (€3 cheaper than Virtu Ferries Gozo)
Tallinja card for children: €3.99 (€1.50 cheaper than Virtu Ferries Gozo)

Gozo Fast Ferry’s service will be linked to the bus schedule, after the company collaborated with Malta Public Transport.

It remains to be seen whether Gozo Fast Ferry’s standard ticket fare will also be cheaper than Virtu Ferries Gozo.

The fast ferry service between Valletta and Mgarr was made possible after Transport Minister Ian Borg and Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri announced back in February that the Government would be investing €5 million in maritime infrastructure to enable a direct service between the two sides. The announcement was a result of the Government’s decision to liberalise the route.
