An event taking place next week will be discussing the role of remote and online working in Malta’s future economy, asking participants to consider whether the office is here to stay or if the post-COVID reality has fundamentally and permanently altered the way we work.
Organised by the Malta Business Network (MBN), the event on Monday 22nd January will take place at The Grist, at The Brewhouse in Mrieħel, at 6pm.
Real estate experts and employers will discuss the future of office properties and whether the island has reached saturation, in a panel moderated by Ian Casolani, Managing Director at Belair Property, who brings extensive industry expertise.
He will be joined for the hour-long discussion by speakers Angelique Spina, Director at PwC Malta, George Kakouras, Managing Director at Hili Properties plc, Lara Camilleri, COO at recruitment experts Expedition42, and Catherine Hurley, Head of Global Accounts at AIS Interior, an international office design and build company.
The panel discussion will touch upon the current state of the office market in Malta, the future of the 40-hour week and the 9-5 working day.
Speakers will delve into current trends, and how tech is shaping the future of office dynamics.
The Future of Work and what’s next for the office in Malta has been curated by property valuer Justin Mizzi of architecture firm Archi+.
The MBN’s calendar of events for 2023 ended in December with an address by Finance Minister Clyde Caruana.
Giving his forecast for the year ahead, Minister Caruana said 2024 would decide the future of Malta’s tax regime as big decisions would be taken on tax harmonisation impacting the entire EU.
And, while Malta’s economy would continue to register growth in the coming year, the Minister said this growth should not come at the expense of citizens’ wellbeing and quality of life – signalling a possible intention to curb construction.
