Bartolo

Tourism Minister Clayton Bartolo, announced Malta’s new strategic plan for tourism on Monday.

Malta’s tourism plan for the next decade is being built on three pillars, he said, “recover, rethink, revitalise.”

The plan aims to place tourism at the heart of Malta’s post-COVID-19 economic recovery.

Mr Bartolo emphasised that tourism stakeholders “need to be the front liners in the post-COVID era and at the forefront of Malta’s economic recovery.”

He had optimistic words regarding the future prospects of the industry, announcing, “great moments are born from great opportunities, and today this is exactly what we have today in front of us.”

He encouraged versatility and adaptability in the tourism industry, saying, “we need to marry ourselves as a courageous, innovative, forward-looking sector, that is not afraid of change.”

Mr Bartolo reemphasised the Government’s continued commitment to supporting the industry, especially when Malta re-establishes airline connectivity and relaunches its source markets after the pandemic.

Finally, he insisted that quality is a must for the industry, saying it will make Malta the “home of tourism excellence.”

“Malta as a home of tourism excellence is not just a buzz word, but a new chapter in the history of our economy,” he said.
