While locals have no shortage of complaints about living on the island, especially those who have been around before the population boom, a recent report states otherwise, ranking Malta third out of the top 10 places to retire in Europe.
Published by Global Citizen Solutions, a visa and relocation consulting company, Malta came in third after Spain and Portugal.
Malta was lauded for its healthcare system, tax exemptions and incentives, political stability, entertainment option, ideal year-round weather, and a large English speaking population, among others.
Curiously, the report also lists Malta’s “attractive property prices”. Global Citizens Solutions is geared towards providing its services to Americans, where in many states, wages are typically higher and so too are property prices.
Global Citizen Solutions also listed Malta’s residency, citizenship and naturalisation schemes, describing such schemes as promising for those with enough financial means and are planning to retire in Europe.
Malta is followed by Greece and Turkey in the top five of Global Citizen Solutions’s list of the best places to retire in Europe.
