The scaffolding and façade at a construction site in Triq Belvedere in Gżira collapsed on Tuesday (today) afternoon.
The collapse reportedly took place at 1.30pm, and rescue workers were immediately on site. As at the time of writing, no injured people were reported.
The project was taking place as part of the construction of a 93-room hotel, which would then be extended to a 116-room hotel, spread across 11 floors.
When contacted by BusinessNow.mt, the architect responsible for the project, Colin Zammit, confirmed that nobody was hurt and that the area is being cleared up.
Minister for Home Affairs, Security, Reforms and Equality Byron Camilleri confirmed on social media that no injuries have been reported, according to initial information from the Civil Protection Department.
The Occupational Health & Safety Authority (OHSA) Malta stated that its officials are on site and investigations are underway.
