Wizz Air introduces 12-month subscription plan for frequent travellers

Low-cost airline Wizz Air has launched a €499 12-month subscription plan with the possibility of flying without limit.

For the time being, the membership is only open to its first 10,000 customers.

The ‘All You Can Fly’ membership programme will cost €599 from 17th August and includes all its international routes where one can book up to three flights per day.

Despite being one of the first memberships of its kind, Wizz Air has been cricitised for its conditions.

Those who have acquired the membership still have to pay a €9.99 fee per flight and luggage and seat reservation is not included in the one-year package.

Furthermore, many have complained about the fact that flights purchased through this membership have to be booked at least 72 hours in advance.

In its Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section, Wizz Air noted that the membership plan can only be refunded within the first 14 days after purchase and if no flight has yet been booked.

The reimbursement, while being in full, would only be in the form of a voucher. Additionally, the subscription plan can only be terminated after the 12-month period is over.

Individuals who wish to do so have to take note of the expiry date as the subscription is automatically renewed every 12 months.

Wizz Air has different memberships available for frequent travellers such as the WIZZ MultiPass, Wizz Discount Club, Italy Discount Club and the Privilege Pass.

Despite its various offerings, the airline was deemed as the worst airline for UK flight delays, for the third consecutive year.

In addition, Hungary’s competition authority penalised the airline with a €770,000 fine for misleading communications and for encouraging customers to buy more expensive travel packages. Despite this, it is currently questioning the legality of the fine and has decided to take legal action.

The Hungarian carrier set up a Malta-based subsidiary, named Wizz Air Malta, in 2022.
